Name: Matazaky Barkat Bin Saïda

Title: Ankizy antokin'ny Fandrosoana sy ny Fiarovana ny tontolo iainana

Category of the project: Performing arts

Realisation: May 2023

In light of the problems of social and economic inequalities, environmental degradation and climatic and ecological upheavals facing Madagascar and in a context of lack of environmental information and the low level of education of the population, my project is centered on the training of young people through the art of slam -poetry about environmental topics. The project aims to train students in school to be eco-responsible and become "ambassadors" about climate justice in their communities. The project was realised with around 180 students (30 students per CEG) of the 4th and 3rd class at 5 CEG of Antananarivo during the two last weeks of May 2023. At the end of each workshop, a small competition of slam on the environmental topics was organized and the best in each class was selected to perform his/her slam poetry in joint video which is used to educate more people about the importance of the protection of our environment.

The specific objectives of the project are:

- to train young people to be ecoresponsible

- to introduce the target people to reasons and impacts of climate change

- Initiation of young people to public speaking, in particular slam poetry

- to encourage target individuals to be environmental sensitizers

- to inform young people of the dangers of environmental degradation in Madagascar

- to introduce young people to the concept of recycling

The form of the workshop:

Each training workshop lasted 4 hours and was conducted as follows:

• Writing workshop (55 mn)

• Environmental education workshop (55 mn)

• Introduction to recycling (55 mn)

• Competition of slam on environmental themes (30mn)

• Presentation of the slam (30 mn)

• Deliberation (30mn)

After 5 trainings, many sessions of regrouping and the selection of the winner of each group, the students prepared for the registration in the studio for our Slam-video.
